Wrexham Anglo Welsh Festival Tournament – 28th April

The weather was much improved from last year and it was a great under 8 tournament with teams from Mold, Chester, Rhos, Denbigh, Bethesda, Nant Conwy, Ruthin and COBRA. Mold took the honours beating Nant Conwy in the final.

During the group stages Wrexham started slowly in all matches but recovered to win three of the games and draw the other. Late tries in the games against COBRA and Chester took the victories and again in the Nant Conwy game got the draw. It really showed a fighting spirit in the side. The final game in the semi-finals saw a number of errors creep into the Wrexham game. The errors proved costly and the tournament was over Wrexham.

The games saw some great tries with Reuben scoring in all the games. Jack and Sam Jones were also on the score sheet several times. One of the best tries saw the ball going through six pairs of hands with switch moves and great handling and running. Luke, Dylan and Rhys made some great runs. They are running with great strength and are really ready for the contact game. Oliver and Matty made some good runs and passed well. Sam Wright and Owain took some great tags which contributed to several six tag turn-overs.
