Wrexham had another venture in to England and the RFU under 9 rules this week. Nine players made the trip to the Wirral in a late rearrangement of the fixture. Fortunately Anselmians had a free weekend and were able to accommodate the game following a Friday night cancellation of the original Wrexham opponents.
The first game saw both teams tackling well and ended with a four tries to three win for Anselmians. The second game saw the arrival of the rain and a bit more focus from the Wrexham team. Wrexham took the victory in the second game, seven tries to one, but the game was a lot closer than the score would indicate. Anselmians tackled well and were organised in defence and they ran and passed well. It took a while for Wrexham to switch on to the changed rules and particularly the offload in the tackle, within the three seconds. Once Wrexham were up to speed they tackled excellently and supported and offloaded really well to score some great tries.
Summary of match results:
Match 1: Anselmians (4) v Wrexham (3)
