Due to the access restriction at Bryn Estyn this week, the fixture was switched to Rhyl. With the unavailability of several players, Wrexham took a bare ten players to play what is always a hard fought game against the Rhyl side.

The first session was an even and hard fought battle. Wrexham opened the scoring with Reuben running wide to cross the line in the corner. Some great runs up the middle from Jack and Oliver and tackles from Sam (W) Rhyl came back with a well worked try before Dylan barged his way over to score a second for Wrexham. Rhyl closed out the game with a try towards the end to even the game out at 2 tries each.

The second game saw Wrexham with no ball to play rugby with. The Rhyl side took up positions around the tackle area that saw interceptions, the scrum half being tackled early and players being tackled as they received the ball. This meant that any possession was cancelled out. In fairness to the Rhyl side they ran well with all the possession that they were afforded and scored some good team tries passing and supporting well. Despite some great tackling from Thomas (P) and the rest of the Wrexham side, this game ending with a 4 tries to 0 score line.

The finale saw a rejuvenated Wrexham side coming out all guns blasting. More disciplined control around the tackle area evened the possession and Wrexham showed what they could do. Rhys made two great runs early in the game to score twice and take Wrexham into a lead. Rhyl rebounded with a well worked try to bring the score to 2 tries to 1. Sam (J) added to his good defensive work with a well finished try. Luke then ran the length of the pitch before being tackle 5 meters short of the line. A quick recycle saw Thomas (J) going over for a great try.

A number of points shone out from today's game. Firstly, the handling within the games was excellent and how the team organised themselves was a credit. Secondly, the team showed a real improvement in tackling. But finally, and most importantly, the resilience to come back after what was a very frustrating second session and to grow stronger in the final period of play. Well done to everybody.
