Tough away win

Wrexham head coach Alan Jenkins was very impressed with the manner in which his side went about their 28-12 defeat of Newtown.
Newtown were unbeaten at home when the two sides kicked off on Saturday afternoon, but were simply outplayed by a Wrexham side still in the race for promotion.
Jenkins said “I thought we played well against Dolgellau, but that performance was probably better.
We fronted up physically and our defence was outstanding, when we had the chances to go wide we were dangerous.”
“It was a really clinical performance today and possibly our best of the season.”
In a very physical encounter, Wrexham’s defence set their stall early, some aggressive line speed and huge tackles lay the foundations for the rest of the game.
The first score of the game came from winger Bailey Rae who found himself in space on the right before beating two men on his way to the line, converted by Sam Rogers.
Not long after and the visitors had their second. Centre Jacob Hughes made a lovely break before putting Owen Weston in to cross for a converted score.
Just before the break and Hughes had a try of his own, Rae made a break down the wing before passing inside to Hughes who dotted down underneath the sticks. Rogers converted to make the score 21-0 at the interval.
With the wind behind them, Newtown came out firing in the second half and got their first score courtesy of Twm Jones, the try was unconverted.
Wrexham got the all important bonus point midway through the second half as Olly Dodd got an inside ball off brother Nick before somehow breaking through a number of Newtown bodies and touching down, Rogers made it 100% from the boot.
The hosts got their second score off the back of a scrum as Josh Owens placed the ball down as the scrum went over for a converted score.
Wrexham resisted any sort of pressure from the hosts and saw the game out in a very professional manner.
Next up Wrexham travel to Abergele, but before then did somebody mention a Grand Slam?
