Head Coach - Jon Aby

Q1 - What motivated you to coach at Wrexham

To make you the best club in north Wales after playing there in my youth and to give back my 24 years of coaching experience and a promise I made to Gwyn Harris.

Q2 - What is your coaching History?

I started as a development coach at Sale in 1997 under John Mitchell (England current defence coach and former all black coach). From there I have had time at all levels at the game from Sale and RGC through to Grass roots level.

Q3 - When did you first take up playing rugby?

I stared playing rugby when I was 9 years old for Wrexham schools for Austin Thomas.

Q4 - Who were your inspirations?

I had Gerald Davies autobiography growing up. And also my two high school teachers Owen Bale and Bob Burn and at Wrexham rugby club at that time Ross Roberts.

Q5 - Who was the best player you ever coached?

I have coached so many good players to highlight one but players I have coached Adrian Hadley - Wales, Pat Sanderson – England , Dylan O’Grady – Ireland, David Rees – England (Scored the famous try against Lomu at Twickenham) and Darren Morris – RGC and Lions but the list could go on.

Q6 - Which part of being a coach do you find the most rewarding?

All of it but mainly progression of player development.

Q7 - What’s been the most successful team you have been part of?

The sale Squad that made the 1997 Pilkington cup final

Q9 - If we asked one of your players to describe your qualities as a coach what would they be?

An Intense desire to develop both personally and players
