You may recall that in my report to the last Club AGM, I stated that I was looking to stand down as chairman. I am pleased to announce that at last night’s committee meeting it was agreed that Nick Partington is now the club chairman with immediate effect.

When they retire from work, some people choose to take on more voluntary roles to fill the void. I have chosen to do the opposite. After 40 years as a schoolteacher where my life was governed by someone else’s timetable and agenda, my plan is to clear my life of regular commitments. Some will say that teachers have long holidays, but I could never choose when I could take a holiday or even a day off, at a time of my choosing. For the first time in a long while I now feel in control of my own timetable!

I have been involved with rugby on an almost daily basis for over 50 years, the last 30 have been with Wrexham. There have been some turbulent times, but I really believe that the club is on the way back to success and the Committee is planning for what I believe is an exciting future. I’m sure that Nick will be communicating those plans to you and how the wider membership can help in delivering the future success of the club over the coming months.

I currently act as the Club’s International Ticket Secretary and will see the International Ticket process through to the end of the 6 Nations, when I’ll be handing these duties to Andrew McGregor-Andrew. The club is now looking for someone to assist with the role for next season. I will be assisting Andrew with the transition to make it as smooth as possible, so if anyone is interested in helping with this, please contact myself, Nick, or Andrew for further details.
