CLUB STATEMENT

Wrexham RFC is an open, diverse and inclusive Rugby Club. We are immensely proud of the welcome we give to all individuals who want to play, support or become part of our club.

We’re proud of the women’s and girl’s teams that have flourished over the last few years and the opportunities to play and enjoy sport that we’ve provided for all members of our local community.

At our club we expect every individual, regardless of their nationality, race, gender or sexuality to be treated with dignity and respect and we will not tolerate anyone who isn’t prepared to uphold these high standards.

Which is why we were deeply saddened and angered by the recent reports of misogynism, racism and bullying at the Welsh Rugby Union.

Those at the highest echelons of rugby in Wales are the custodians of our national game and as such we expect their behaviour to reflect the great values of our great country.

Thus far the response from the WRU to the allegations made by BBC Wales has been inadequate and we remain unimpressed by the deeply flawed initial investigation and the vague assurances offered by the CEO this week.

We hope that the Welsh Rugby Union will act quickly and decisively to restore integrity and decency in our sport and assure them that we, as a club, will do everything and anything asked of us to assist in this endeavour.

Remember, you don’t just represent the sport of rugby, you represent the people of Wales.
